Looking for an evening of Family Fun, join us for the 6th Annual May Fair Event and Sale!
The May Fair Event & Sale will take place on Saturday, May 9th at the St. Croix County Fairgrounds, Glenwood City, WI (take 94 to exit 28 & go north 10 miles on Hwy 128). Gates will open for inspection of auction items at 4:00 p.m. with the formal program starting at 5:00 p.m. The May Fair Event & Sale is sponsored by The Friends of the St. Croix County Fairgrounds in cooperation with the St. Croix County 4-H Dairy and Horse Committees. The event will be held in the Commercial Building on the Fairgrounds. The building will be heated as needed.
A delicious ham and roasted chicken dinner, catered by Ruth Hurtgen, will be served starting at 5:00 p.m. The dinner is a free will donation event. Additionally, while supplies last, there will be free milk and twenty-five cent servings of ice cream.
The entertainment for the event will feature Bruce Libby and his concertina and the St. Croix County 4-H Show Choir. There will also be local talent from the Sunnyside Shamrocks, Rolling Hills and Roberts Ribbon Reapers 4-H Clubs as they perform their acts from the 4-H Talent Explosion. For our younger attendees, there will be a Nickel Scramble sponsored by Blue Ribbon Feeds of New Richmond with plenty of silver for all.
The silent and live auctions will feature items from production agriculture & equine supplies & services to restaurant and entertainment packages including professional & college sport tickets. Special to this year's live auction will be an original Barn Quilt in patriotic colors designed and constructed by Terry Mitchell. And let's not forget mom, there will be beautiful flowering hanging baskets from Circle H Greenhouse just in time for Mother’s Day – truly something for everyone!!
Again this year, the winner of the 2015 4-H Dairy Heritage Calf will be announced. Presentation of the calf will be to a deserving 4-H Dairy project member. Additionally there will be several check presentations plus special recognition of sustaining donors to the May Fair Event & Sale.
The purpose of the May Fair Event & Sale is to raise funds for the Renovations of the Generations Capital Fund Campaign. Great strides have already been made, with the Dairy Barn Complex completed for the 2013 Fair. Next on the horizon is Horse Barn #1 for which the building site is prepared . All funds raised at the May Fair Event will be directed towards capital improvements with the primary focus being retirement of the remaining loan on Dairy Barn #2 and beginning the foundation for the horse complex. Help preserve our rich agricultural heritage and support St. Croix County Youth Programs.
