Every Person Has A Fair Story

EVERY PERSON HAS A FAIR STORY

Every year millions of people attend county, district or state fairs and tell their friends about the great time they had.  Maybe it was your first encounter seeing a cow, riding the Ferris wheel, eating a corn dog, serving as a superintendent for 30 years, or even getting engaged; but it happened at the fair.  Now it’s time to share your story with the rest of the state.  Your story could be from the past or something even from the present year.

Anyone who would like to share their story about a fair experience in Wisconsin is welcome to enter.  Share your fair story in 200-400 words and include the name of the Wisconsin Fair you are referring to.  Submit to Wisconsin Association of Fairs by October 1, 2016 via e-mail: wisfairs@gmail.com or hard copy: 5320 County Road F, Merrill, WI 54452.  Entries submitted in prior years, are not eligible to be resubmitted.  By submitting an entry, the author transfers to the Wisconsin Association of Fairs ownership of the fair story.

The Wisconsin Association of Fairs is divided into four districts.  You do not need to know which district the fair you are speaking of is from, simply include the name of the fair. Entries will be judged against entries from within the same district and a winner selected.  A cash prize of $50.00 will be awarded to the winner from each district.  The four district winners will then be judged and the first place entry will receive a cash prize of $250.00 and a plaque; second place entry will receive $150.00 and a plaque. The winners will be announced on Monday, January 9, 2017 at the opening session of the annual Wisconsin Association of Fairs Convention held at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells.  Winners will be notified by December 15, 2016 and do not need to be present to win, but will be invited to attend.
For more information or to obtain an entry form on the second annual “Every Person Has A Fair Story” contest, contact Gail Maier, St. Croix County Fairboard President at mmaiergail@aol.com or click here for a copy of the entry form.  Maybe make your own story this year by attending the 2016 St. Croix County Fair in Glenwood City July 20 - 24, 2016. “County Pride, County Wide” is this year’s theme.   Like us on Facebook at “St. Croix County Fair - Wisconsin”. We hope to see you at the fair!
